Meet the Staff.
Dr. Phil Calvert
Dr. Philip W. Calvert was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Iceland from 1994 to 1995. In 1996 he received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where he was a Morris Doctoral Fellow. He was ordained as a Southern Baptist Minister in 2003. He attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Calvert and his wife, Kristen, were appointed to the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in November of 2003. They have four children (Nathaniel, Benjamin, Rebekah, and Abigail). Abigail was born on the mission field in Quito, Ecuador. The Calvert family served as missionaries in both Ecuador and Peru. During that time they served in various roles, from being church planters to being the Seminary Connector for Ecuador and Peru. Dr. Calvert taught at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary as an adjunct faculty member, at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as an Assistant Professor of History at the College at Southwestern, and at Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia, as the Associate Professor of Missions and Associate Director of the World Missions Center. He continues to teach as an adjunct for Truett-McConnell College and as an adjunct for Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. The Calvert family's passion is discipling believers to become full participants in the Great Commission. The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. The role of mankind is to glorify God, our Creator. God loves every human and desires to have a personal relationship with everyone. This relationship begins at the Cross. Christians are commanded to share the Good News of Jesus Christ everywhere in the world. Come and be part of our exciting ministries, including our men’s ministry, women’s ministry, senior adult ministry, Sunday School, Life Groups, children and youth ministries, and our Hispanic ministry. The friendly Trinity family looks forward to you joining us as we worship our Lord and Savior together!
Pastoral Care Minister
Director of Student Ministries
Jason is a Phoenix native, born and raised in the Valley. He was not raised in a Christian home, but came to know and love Jesus Christ, accepting Him as Lord and Savior, at the age of sixteen. After high school Jason attended Southwestern College, which is now known as Arizona Christian University (ACU). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries in 2012. Jason and his wife, Melinda, met at ACU in the fall of 2010. Through their involvement in the university’s choir and small vocal ensemble, they became close friends I and soon fell in love. They were married in January of 2013. In October of 2014, Jason and Melinda packed up and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. It wasn’t long before God called them back home to the great state of Arizona, through Jason’s call to serve the church family at Trinity. Through his own experience of growing up and knowing life without Christ as a teenager, God has given Jason a deep love and passion for youth. He has worked with youth in many capacities, from leading worship, to being a discipleship leader, and filling in as a youth pastor through a very tough transition at a previous church. His desire is to provide a safe place for kids and teens to experience the love of God, and to help them develop and grow in their relationship with the Lord. It is through this deep, loving relationship with God that we learn to love others the way He loves us. Jason and his wife are so excited to be a part of the wonderful church family at Trinity, and to be a part of God’s plans to reach the youth of Casa Grande!
Director of Worship Ministries
Life verse - Acts 20:24, "But I count my life of no value to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of God's grace."
Melinda was born and raised in Arizona. Melinda is a "pastor's kid", her dad is still a pastor of a Southern Baptist Church in the West Valley. She accepted Christ at the age of nine and was baptized at Mohave Valley Baptist Church. At age thirteen she began to feel God's call on her heart to ministry. Since that time, she has continued to seek God's calling on her life. Melinda and her husband, Jason, had been living in Colorado Springs, Colorado for a couple of years before they came to Casa Grande. Melinda's spiritual gifts include: leadership, administration and teaching. "I have always felt that God gave me these gifts to allow me to lead and teach in a worship leading position. These gifts together, allow me to be organized and efficient in ministry, the ability to teach and lead a group effectively." Melinda is an extremely talented vocalist and plays the guitar and piano. Melinda was home schooled until enrolling in high school. She has previously attended Glendale Community College and Arizona Christian University. Melinda will be continuing the pursuit of a degree in Music Education. She has completed classes in music theory, many years of vocal lessons, chorale/jazz ensemble, and piano proficiency. Melinda enjoys many different styles of church music. She enjoys hymns and believes that worship choirs are still relevant. "I believe that there is power in music that can be a very influential tool in molding and shaping hearts for Christ. I love songs that are full of truth and biblical doctrine, and it is through singing and playing these songs that we get a chance to hear truth through the music, to make a joyful noise to the Lord, and to ultimately lead people to sing praises to our God, which is very empowering." When asked about ways she can be a servant Melinda stated, "Through the gifts that God has given me, both spiritual and natural talents, I use them as a service to people. This could be through teaching a bible study, leading a worship service, teaching music lessons or whatever opportunities that God brings my way to serve others."
Deacons are mainly responsible for overseeing the physical and spiritual care for the needs of the members of our Trinity family.
